BACKGROUND
I have Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the Sheffield Hallam University in the UK. Afterwards, I attended the University of Hertfordshire to complete a Post-Graduate Diploma (PGDip) and Masters (MSc) degree in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
I have gained experience working with adolescents and adults in both outpatient and inpatient settings. In particular, I worked as a Healthcare Assistant in a private mental health hospital specialising in treating Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and eating disorders. I have a special interest with working with OCD and OCD related disorders.
I am a registered member with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
EXPERIENCE AND APPROACH
My area of expertise is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I work with a wide range of clients and concerns including, depression, low self-esteem, anxiety disorders (OCD, PTSD, GAD, health, panic, phobias), stress, trauma, eating disorders and insomnia.
My approach is client focused, an approach that involves incorporating different therapeutic models and techniques to meet your individual needs. In particular, I draw upon Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) techniques to upskill you in emotion regulation and tolerate distress to promote meaningful long-term change.
My aim is to help you feel heard and understood, use healthier coping tools and build emotional resilience. Following key principles of CBT, the first few sessions will be information gathering about your current difficulties and explore your goals for our work together. Early sessions will also include psycho-education, based on psychological research to help you make sense of your experiences. Then we can focus on how to tackle the specific problems you are struggling with. Online therapy can also be an effective option for those who prefer the convenience and flexibility of virtual sessions.
