I am a psychologist specializing in health, medical and clinical psychology. I have started and almost completed my education in the Netherlands. At the moment, I am undertaking my clinical internship at the MacFarlane Psychology group in order to finalize my Master’s degree. In this capacity I will be offering therapy at a reduced rate, while being supervised by Peter MacFarlane, Ph.D.
My education was practice-oriented, enabling me to develop skills in cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, systemic therapy, client-centered approaches, low intensity treatments and psychological assessments and interventions of chronic diseases. I am passionate about an integrative therapy approach which allows for tailoring therapy to meet the unique needs of each individual. I offer therapy in English and German.
Background
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (B.Sc.) from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and I am currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Health and Medical Psychology (M.Sc.) from Leiden University. In addition to a minor in Peace and Conflict Studies and a Master’s degree in Peace, Trauma, and Religion, I have completed courses with a clinical specialization, focusing on mood, anxiety, psychotic disorders, and addiction. These diverse courses have provided me with the skills to apply a multidisciplinary approach to therapy, which I am very fond of. A multidisciplinary approach ensures inclusion, supports cultural sensitivity and hence, it aids in reaching individuals who might otherwise lack access to help.
In my current Master’s program, I have explored health psychology by developing interventions to enhance people’s health – body and mind/physical and mental well-being. I have delved into medical psychology through the assessment of comorbid, subsequent, or predisposing mental health issues related to somatic or chronic conditions, and probed clinical psychology by designing treatment plans and conducting therapy for various concerns, including depression, anxiety, lack of motivation, and trauma.
My Therapeutic Approach
I offer therapy in a non-judgemental, open-minded and compassionate manner, as I believe that these elements are essential for creating a safe and supportive environment. I aim to establish a safe space in which you will feel secure, heard and understood. Everything discussed during therapy is treated with confidentiality. Additionally, I aim to be flexible, tailoring our sessions to meet your individual needs and preferences. You are the primary agent in your life, and I am here to support you in achieving your goals.
