Living with ADHD
Living with ADHD is about much more than managing attention. It also involves navigating the emotional landscape that comes with it—feelings of being different, experiences of guilt or shame, frequent feelings of being rejected by others. There is a full life-story that each person with ADHD carries with them.
Our Approach
Our approach to the treatment of ADHD does not rely on medication. It may be a good idea, and we can explore this, as we move along. But it is not a necessary treatment in all cases. Even if you do choose to use medication, there is often much more to explore. Through psychotherapy, we will work with the underlying emotional patterns that have shaped your life. Taking a life-span perspective, we will explore how growing up with ADHD has influenced your self-image and relationships. We focus on these things as a first step towards supporting you in building a more compassionate narrative about yourself—one that allows you to see both past and present relationships from a new perspective.
Through this lens, we aim to create a space where you can understand your experiences and discover strategies that honor your individuality. By developing greater self-knowledge, you can begin to navigate life with more resilience, clarity, and confidence. The idea is to work with and around the combination of strengths and challenges that ADHD has given you.
