Assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of personality disorders
the international personality disorders examination (Ipde)
A careful assessment of personality disorders is occassionally warrented, when ongoing significant struggles in interpersonal and/or emotional functioning exists over a long period of time, and does not lend itself to treatment.
we offer assessments through the use of assessment tools and psychological interviews with trained specialists.
The assessment tool we often use is called the International Personality Disorders Examination (IPDE for short), and consists of two approaches to assessment. The first one is a set of screeners which are self-administered by the patient, take about 15 minutes each, and cover one personality disorder each. These help rule-in and rule-out the likelihood of a given personality disorder. The second approach is a semi-structured interview performed by the clinician. It allows for a natural clinical interview. This section takes between 1-2 hours to complete.
