I have spent the last 10 years counseling and coaching the international and local communities in Hong Kong. Additionally, I have specialized training in trauma-informed care and self-compassion. I work with couples and individuals online and in person.
HOW I WORK
As an integrative Psychotherapist, I draw on a range of approaches that include cognitive behavioral–, and compassion based therapy, mindfulness as well as personal values-clarification work. I also use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). ACT is an action oriented approach to psychotherapy helping clients accept that ‘negative’ human emotions are part of a whole life. When we stop avoiding, denying and struggling with our inner emotions and accept that these deeper feelings are appropriate responses to certain situations. We can commit to making changes based on our personal values and goals, regardless of what is going on and how we feel about it. This can eventually lead to change in attitudes and emotional states.
I provide a safe and respectful space for you to talk about your thoughts and feelings and explore how you can enhance your life. Through this process you may find your own insights and develop different perceptions of your problems. I will help you explore techniques and strategies to cope with life’s challenges. We may also look at the messages that are no longer serving you, help you clarify your values and find a balance between acceptance and change.
Taking the first step to come to counseling can be daunting and as such asking for support can be stressful in itself and may make you feel vulnerable and self conscious. However, taking that first step may be the key to a new beginning.
