BACKGROUND
My personal background also informs my work as a therapist. As such, as an expat myself, I have a personal appreciation for what it is like living in another country and culture.
COMING TO THERAPY
I create a safe and supportive environment where you can feel free to explore what is troubling you. In here, you can feel attentively heard and deeply understood. I will ask pointed and helpful questions so that you can increase your own insight and understanding, but I am always kind and supportive and it is of utmost importance to me that therapy is a place where you feel validated and understood. Taking steps to begin therapy may be intimidating, but it is my experience that people feel a sense of relief and hopefulness, and are very glad that they came.
HOW CAN THERAPY HELP
I will help you to:
- Gain insight and understand the root of the problem(s)
- Connect the dots and see why you are where you are today
- Change unhelpful patterns
- Learn tools to cope better with anxiety/OCD and depression
- Communicate in a more efficient and healthy manner
- Learn to be more present
RESEARCH AND PSYCHOTHERAPY
I practice therapy with a strong basis in evidence based practices. I use psychodynamic therapy as well as cognitive behavioral therapy, because research has shown them to be effective types of treatment for most psychological problems. As a therapist, I tailor my therapy approach to each client’s needs, and collaborate with the client in finding ways forward that are the most meaningful.
