Hanne-Berit Hahnemann
I have a masters degree in clinical counseling with a supervisory license from Cleveland State University and have many years of experience in private practice in the United States. In addition to my clinical counseling degree, I am a trained couples therapist through the Gottman Institute
Background
My personal background also informs my work as a therapist. As such, as an expat myself, I have a personal appreciation for what it is like living in another country and culture.
Coming to Therapy
How can Therapy Help
I will help you to:
- Gain insight and understand the root of the problem(s)
- Connect the dots and see why you are where you are today
- Change unhelpful patterns
- Learn tools to cope better with anxiety/OCD and depression
- Communicate in a more efficient and healthy manner
- Learn to be more present
Research and Psychotherapy
I practice therapy with a strong basis in evidence based practices. I use psychodynamic therapy as well as cognitive behavioral therapy, because research has shown them to be effective types of treatment for most psychological problems. As a therapist, I tailor my therapy approach to each client’s needs, and collaborate with the client in finding ways forward that are the most meaningful.
