Lou James, MA.(Cantab), MSc., PGDip

I offer services in English, to families, parent, couples, individuals, and children.

Professional Background

I have a Masters degree in Family Psychotherapy from the University of London and am a registered member of the United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapy. I also have a BA(Hons) and an MA from Cambridge University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Infant Mental Health from the world-renowned Tavistock Clinic in the UK. I have served on the boards of the Institute of Family Therapy and the Tavistock and Portman Mental Health Trust and on the Family Therapy committee of the UKCP. I am also a trained parenting facilitator with the experience of bringing up two children of my own. Having recently moved to Copenhagen I understand some of the challenges in being an expat, having previously also lived in a variety of places outside of the UK, including South Africa, where I was born.

As a systemic family psychotherapist, I am trained to work with families, parents, couples and individuals, using a systemic approach. This means exploring the immediate impact of our relationships with each other, as well as taking into account the individual experiences that we have had in the past. As part of my training, I have a diploma in infant mental health and have studied early childhood, including working in the premature baby unit of a London Hospital.
