My focus, how I work and what you can expect
I provide a safe and affirming space for individuals, couples and families, to explore a wide range of topics such as stress, relational conflicts, anxiety, self-esteem, trauma, identity, loneliness and belonging.
My approach is trauma-informed, meaning I take into account how past experiences impact our body and mind. I also strive to provide a supportive and respectful space for people of all gender identities and sexual orientations.
Individual Therapy
Systemic therapy focuses on how your challenges as an individual relate to a wider context. We will explore how relationships, family, work, social structures, internalised thoughts, beliefs and emotions affect you, your behaviors and emotions.
My aim is to facilitate personal growth and healing. In this process, you will become more self-aware, relate to yourself and others in new ways and find solutions to overcome challenges.
Couples Therapy
Couples therapy provides a space to address difficulties, strengthen communication, and improve the quality of your relationship. I approach this by following two steps:
Step 1: Understanding What’s in the Way
We start by exploring what prevents you from feeling connected. How does communication impact your relationship? Are there recurring patterns that create distance or conflict? Together, we will identify these dynamics and I will introduce communication tools to help you express your thoughts, needs, and desires in a safe and constructive way.
Step 2: Building the Relationship You Long For
Techniques and tools alone are not enough. We will also focus on what truly matters to you and your partner —your needs, thoughts, and longings. Through this process, we work towards building a foundation of trust, connection, and growth, both as individuals and as a couple.
Professional Background
I am trained in systemic and solution-oriented therapy and counselling (Isi Institute in Berlin, Germany).
Before becoming a therapist, I pursued a multidisciplinary B.A. and M.Sc. in Business, Language, and Culture, and worked for seven years at an international communication agency where I managed client relationships. This experience gave me a good understanding of the corporate setting, including its corporate culture and organisational politics, while also making me aware of the potential stress and conflict inherent within. My fascination with the human experience and relationships prompted me to seek further professional expertise in systemic therapy in my early thirties.
I speak German, English, Spanish, and Portuguese and have lived for longer periods of time in Spain, Portugal, China, Sri Lanka, France and since 2015, in Denmark.
